I Need Your Help
I am running as a Democratic candidate for Re-Election to the Shelby County Board of Commissioners, District 7.
During my tenure as Shelby County Commissioner, I initiated the current overhaul of Juvenile Court by filing the complaint that led to the U.S. Department of Justice investigation. As a lifelong resident of Shelby County, I began my career as a public school teacher and have dedicated my career to insisting upon accountability in the institutions, systems, and processes that impact the lives of women, families, and children.
I want to return to the commission to continue to affect public policy that improves the lives of Shelby County residents and to ensure oversight of county agencies funded by tax dollars. I am committed to:
- Accountability and oversight of the performance results of all county-funded divisions and agencies.
- Accountability in the treatment of our children in the juvenile justice system.
- Transparency in County processes and decision-making; transparency in reporting MWBE contracting performance; and transparency in PILOT/TIF wage and economic performance.
- Equity in community and economic development; equitable access to county services and funding; equity in employment practices; and culturally-competent community engagement on projects that impact the lives of the people we serve.
As your re-elected Shelby County Commissioner, I will work to oppose any legislation that seeks to amend the State constitution regarding workplace bargaining units.
For this campaign to be successful, I cannot do it alone. Your donation of $100 (or any amount) will help us win.
Sincerely,
Henri E. Brooks
Shelby County Commissioner District 7
